PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Adriane Zacmanidis brings a deeply diverse background with over 25 years experience at the senior and executive levels in inclusive design, project management, exhibition production and curation, participatory planning, living systems analysis, emergent technologies, research, and education. Her expertise lies in collaboratively visioning the Big Idea and bringing it to life. Her approach is inclusive, holistic, regenerative, and place-based. She understands that equitable projects start with deep listening, and are achieved through coalition building, inclusive design, participatory decision-making. She is an urbanist whose focus is on time, memory, and place. Over a lifetime of engaging with diverse communities, cultures, and places across the globe, she understands that each person and place has a unique story to tell in their own voice. Adriane is a skilled translator between expert, wisdom, and stakeholders.

Adriane holds graduate degrees in architecture, historic preservation, and education and is certified in multimedia design.

KSD is a design and strategy practice focused on creative communication for people, projects, and place.

EXPERTISE is in human-centered inclusive design, project management, community-based participatory planning and placemaking, strategic planning, accessibility, and translating between wisdom, expertise, and stakeholders.

APPROACH is centered in equity and the understanding that community members are the experts in their communities. I try to foster equity through inclusivity, community building through consensus building, and ownership through participatory decision-making. I lead with process rather than product. I mainly work with nonprofits, community development groups, schools and universities, municipalities, federal agencies, and the GLAM community.
